Age/Grade Requirements

For all programs the age/grade requirement will be as of September 1st 2008 unless otherwise noted. Please do not request or sign up your child for a class he/she does not belong in. If you should do so and we discover the error, it may be too late to get your child in the correct class because it is full. All grade requirements are set to benefit the children and make instruction more consistent for the program leader. In some instances, the requirements have been set for the child’s safety.

Registrants with a birth date that would, based strictly on age, put them in a higher grade level in the Greenwich public school system than their actual grade have the option of registering at the higher grade level. All registrants who do not make a request for age based registration will be registered by their actual grade, if it is a grade based program, in the corresponding grade level for the OGRCC program. Registrants desiring to exercise this option must make a selection when registering and may need to contact the office, then submit a valid copy of a birth certificate [or passport] to verify their date of birth. Registrations without verification will be not be accepted.. Registrants who take this option and present the proper paperwork will be placed in the higher grade level of the OGRCC program and will be treated the same as any registrant who has been placed in that level based upon their actual grade. The option to register by age must be exercised at the time of registration. Any attempts to later alter the basis of registration will not be allowed.

Equipment Requirements

Please note that many of our programs require you to provide your own equipment. Children should come to the first class/session with required equipment in order to participate.
